Hello and welcome to my website. As you've arrived here I'm assuming that you or someone you know might be struggling right now and you are considering whether therapy could help. In my experience, the most important thing is to work with someone you feel you can connect with and trust. My website aims to give you a sense of me as a person, as well as information about my training and approach, so that you can get a sense of whether you would like to work with me.
I am an Integrative Psychosynthesis Counsellor, which means that I can draw upon a range of different approaches according to your individual needs. I work with a diverse population of people with many different types of struggles. I have specialist training and experience in the field of trauma resolution, where I am able to use Somatic Experiencing (SE) and the Neuro Affective Relational Model (NARM) alongside my counselling work. SE and NARM are cutting edge approaches to working with trauma that are informed by the latest neuroscience. SE addresses Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which can arise from 'shock' trauma, for example, experiencing an overwhelming event such as an accident or attack or being subjected to prolonged and highly stressful situations. NARM addresses Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) which can arise from growing up in an environment that was hostile, abusive and/or neglectful.
As a counsellor I work in a mindful and relational way and provide a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can work through whatever may be going on for you at your own pace. My experience includes working with:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress
- Trauma (PTSD and Complex PTSD)
- Addiction
- Sex issues, including compulsive sexual behaviour
- Eating disorders
- OCD
- Relationship issues
- Attachment issues
- Work issues
- LGBTQ+ specific Issues
I provide counselling and therapy for short, medium or long term periods, either in person in central Edinburgh or online via Zoom.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework.
